CHENNAI: The Joint Action Committee of Electricity Board Unions has announced that they will hold a sit-in protest from the morning of September 26, demanding the fulfillment of their demands including price hike.
The Joint Action Committee said: The order prohibiting the creation of new posts should be cancelled. The mandate to implement the benefits including increase in salary to the electricity board employees should be canceled only after getting approval from the government. The ‘outsourcing’ method of employment in the electricity board should be abandoned.

The ‘Gangman’ employees should be given all the perquisites due to the permanent employees. The E-Board employees should be given an immediate increase in salary. We have been urging the administration to fulfill these demands. But no action was taken.
Therefore, all the employees will join the protest in front of the Chennai Electricity Board head office from the morning of September 26 to insist on their demands. Similarly, a protest will be held in front of the District Superintending Engineer’s office, he said. If there is a pending protest, there is a risk of affecting power generation and power distribution.
