The ‘Walton Open 12th National Services (Men & Women) Wrestling Competition-2024’ is going to start from next Sunday (February 18) under the patronage of Walton Hi-Tech Industries Plc and under the management of Bangladesh Amateur Wrestling Federation. The three-day competition will continue till February 20 at the Sheikh Russell Roller Skating Complex. Where hundreds of players from different services and other teams will compete in different weight classes.
A press conference was held at the auditorium of the Bangladesh Olympic Association on Monday (February 12) to give details about the competition. Present at the press conference was the senior executive director of Walton Hi-Tech Industries Plc. F.M. Iqbal Bin Anwar (Don), Senior Deputy Executive Director. Rabiul Islam Milton, Bangladesh Amateur Wrestling Federation Vice President MA Quddus Khan and Joint Editor Mesbah Uddin Azad.
It was informed in the press conference that the weight of the wrestlers of different weight classes going to participate in the competition on Saturday will be taken. And the official competition will start from Sunday. The competition will also be inaugurated on the same day.
Various services teams will participate in the competition. But the competition is open to others as well. The competition will be held in 20 weight classes, 10 each in both male and female categories. Champions and runners-up teams (both male and female) will receive trophies. Apart from this, the best players (male and female) of the competition will be given a crest and prize money.
Men’s weight categories are 57 kg, 61 kg, 65 kg, 70 kg, 74 kg, 79 kg, 86 kg, 92 kg, 97 kg and 125 kg.
Women’s weight categories are – 50 kg, 53 kg, 55 kg, 57 kg, 59 kg, 62 kg, 65 kg, 68 kg, 72 kg and 76 kg.
