The electronics giant of Bangladesh ‘Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC’ has deposited Tk 3 crore 93 lakh 65 thousand 446 to the Bangladesh Sramik Kalyan Foundation Fund of the Ministry of Labor and Employment.

On Thursday (July 4, 2024) morning, Additional Managing Director (AMD) of Walton Hi-Tech Industries Plc. A delegation of 9 members led by Nazrul Islam Sarkar handed over the check to Labor and Employment State Minister Nazrul Islam Chowdhury at the Secretariat.

Secretary of the Ministry of Labor and Employment was present at that time. Mahbub Hossain, Deputy Managing Director of Walton Hi-Tech Industries. Yusuf Ali, Senior Executive Director Sharif Harunur Rashid and Md. Sadekur Rahman, Additional Executive Director Hafiz Ullah, Deputy Operative Director Minhaj Uddin etc.

Note that according to the Bangladesh Labor Act, every year Walton distributes 5 percent of the company’s pre-tax total profit equally among the employees through the Workers Profit Participation and Welfare Fund (WPPF). Besides, a certain portion of the said profit is deposited in the Labor Welfare Fund of the Government. Accordingly, in the financial year 2022-23, each member of the Walton family received Tk 19,838 as tax from the profit sharing fund. Out of this, 11 thousand 903 rupees of tax was paid immediately. The remaining amount is retained in WPPF. And 3 crore 93 lakh 65 thousand 446 taka has been paid to the government’s Sramik Kalyan Foundation Fund. In all, Walton Hi-Tech Industries Plc has given a total of 39 crores 36 lakhs 54 thousand 464 rupees to Workers Profit Participation and Welfare Fund.
