Walton has sent a legal notice to the advertising agency ‘Local Bus Entertainment’ for airing a drama titled ‘Panwart’ without informing the content and against Walton’s ideals and policies. Besides, all advertising contracts with the company have been cancelled. At the same time, Walton Group expressed sincere regret to the esteemed customers and well wishers for the matter.
On Tuesday, (April 16, 2024), the legal notice was sent to Mohan Ahmed, the owner of the advertisement company ‘Local Bus Entertainment’.
Bangladesh Supreme Court Advocate Md. on behalf of Walton. The legal notice signed by Raisul Islam Riyad said, ‘You are the owner of Local Bus Entertainment advertising agency. As per your proposal, Walton Freeze agrees to brand 6 plays produced by you. Provided that the said dramas shall not include any matter which offends the laws, principles, morals or religious sentiments of the country. But it is very sad that among the dramas, “Rupantar” drama has included such things, which created controversy and hurt people’s sentiments.
The notice also said, ‘The contract with you has been canceled for airing the conversion play without informing the Walton authorities about the contents of the play and also why legal action will not be taken against you for airing the play contrary to the ideals and policies of Walton, 7 of receiving the notice. Asked to inform within the day.’
Earlier, Walton instructed the advertising agency to withdraw the play ‘Rupantar’ from various social media including Facebook-Youtube. The drama was immediately withdrawn from all media including Facebook-Youtube.
After that, Walton authorities issued a legal notice to the advertising agency ‘Local Bus Entertainment’, asking why legal measures will not be taken for advertising in dramas that are against the ideals and policies of Walton Group by canceling the contract with the advertising agency.
Meanwhile, in an official statement, Walton said that he never supports any activities that hurt the religious and social sentiments of the people of the country and is not involved in these activities. The Walton Group is saddened by this unfortunate incident and sincerely apologizes to its valued customers and well-wishers. Necessary measures are being taken subject to investigation so that such incidents do not recur.
