Wandering with family – Nimmathi sighs Mammootty

by time news

Mammootty, who has been a popular actor in Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu films, owns 40 acres of land in Karunkuli Pallam village in Chengalpattu district next to Chennai. Mammootty was ordered by the Land Administration Commissioner last March to classify the land, which belongs to his son Tulkar Salman and his family, as a backwaters.

Shocked by the sudden order, Mammootty and his family filed a case in the Chennai High Court against the Land Commissioner’s order. In their petition, it was alleged that the land, which had been classified as private land in 2007, had been classified as a washout outcrop and an order had been issued.

The Chennai High Court judge who heard the case had ordered that no drastic action be taken against the land.

When the case came up for hearing again before Judge Ilanthirayan, Mammootty’s party argued that the order was issued to reclassify the land without asking their side of the story. Accepting this argument, the judge quashed the order classifying the land as a washland outlying land. At the same time the judge ordered that the matter be referred back to the Commissioner of Land Administration.

Further, Mammootty sought the explanation of the parties and directed the Commissioner of Land Administration to issue an appropriate order within 12 weeks.
