Spanish actor Gabriel Guevara, known for his roles in the film “A contre-sens” and the Spanish version of the series “Skam”, was arrested in Venice under an international arrest warrant issued by France for sexual assault, Italian media reported on Sunday.

An Italian court is expected to rule in the coming days on his surrender to the French authorities. The precise nature of the suspicions weighing on the young actor in France is not known.

Gabriel Guevara, 22, was to receive this Sunday in Venice a prize awarded by the Filming Italy festival for his performance in “A contre-sens”, broadcast on Prime Video. The organizers told the Ansa agency that the awarding of this award to the actor was suspended pending the conclusions of the investigation.

Arrested on arrival at Lido

According to Ansa, Gabriel Guevara was arrested by the police on his arrival on Saturday at the Lido where the 80th Mostra is also being held, from August 30 to September 9. In a press release, the Venice film festival clarified that Gabriel Guevara was not invited.

“In view of the press information that has appeared in recent hours on certain sites relating to the arrest in Venice of the Spanish actor Gabriel Guevara, the Venice Biennale specifies that his presence in Venice was not linked to any activity or production” planned as part of the festival, assured the organizers in a press release.
