JAKARTA – PSSI Chairman (Ketum) Erick Thohir opened the opportunity to invite big countries to the country. They will be the opponent of the Indonesian national team (Timnas) in FIFA Matchday .

The mission was conveyed by Erick because he wanted to see the Red and White team enter the top 100 of FIFA, and also help qualify for the World Cup.

This was started by PSSI by inviting Argentina as a training match against Shin Tae-yong’s fleet. The duel will take place at the Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK) on June 19, 2023.

Erick explained that fighting against a more advanced country in terms of football achievements to Indonesia is really needed. That is for the sake of encouraging Indonesian football to continue to grow

The reason is, he wants to bring the Garuda squad into the top 100 of the FIFA rankings. And, no less important can follow the World Cup.

“We have a dream of getting into the top 100 of the FIFA rankings, entering the World Cup. Of course that’s part of building mentally,” said Erick.

“I think we will allocate trials with big countries. After that, we will focus on (so we can qualify for) the World Cup,” he continued, in Jakarta, Wednesday (24/5/2023).

The BUMN Minister said that his party had opened communications with a number of well-known countries. However, they will be gradually brought to Indonesia.

“I have had contacts from Morocco, Brazil, Portugal and Russia. However, I can only choose one opponent (for big matches),” he said.
