Brett Holmgren, the head of the US State Department’s intelligence division, told The Washington Post that the Hamas attack was a “recruiting moment” for terrorist organizations in the Middle East and around the world.

He cited the example of such terrorist activity, drawing attention to arrests in Europe, including Germany and the Netherlands, of terrorist militants who were planning attacks on Jewish targets.

“We’ve already seen this happen to some extent in Europe,” Holmgren said.

He said the October 7 Hamas attack was “a generational event that terrorist organizations in the Middle East and around the world are using as a recruiting opportunity.”

Holmgren also reportedly made his warning as he prepares to become acting director of the National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC) following the departure of Christina Abizaid, the agency’s 2021 chief, later this month.

Earlier, “Kursor” wrote that a source in the Israeli intelligence services, who gave an interview on condition of anonymity, reported that currently it is much easier to detect people who are ready to provide information from the Gaza Strip. The anonymous source also added that the current situation is significantly different from what it was before October 7. Now the intelligence services have offers for potential recruiters.

In addition, “Cursor” has already reported that militants of the terrorist group Hamas are planning to establish an organization in Lebanon called “Pioneers for the Flooding of Al-Aqsa” and have invited boys and men to join it. The goal of the organization is “to shape the future of the people and liberate Jerusalem.”
