RUTSHURU – The Congolese army carried out a new strike this Friday, January 19 against sites of the M23 rebels and their allies after the latter had retaliated in their threats against the loyalist army, confirm several sources contacted by CongoForum.

Early this Friday, several rebel positions were hit, notably in Rumeneti near Ruvunda in the Mushaki axis and those of Fromagerie in Kilolirwe, not far from the entrance to the Espoir farm on the Sake-Kitchanga road, in the territory from Masisi (North Kivu).

The same sources add that these strikes targeted sites where M23 war munitions were kept but also which had a high concentration of rebel elements.

In a week, the FARDC has just imposed a imaginable loss on the M23 because last Tuesday, the movement lost two of its commanders in a new strike in Kitshanga, in the same territory.

The spokesperson for the M23 movement announced a revenge in a press release.
