Recent attacks on kyiv

These explosions come in a context of new air offensives on the Ukrainian capital. Russian bombardments on a scale not seen in months hit kyiv and other cities in Ukraine last Monday. They had caused the death of at least 19 people and injured 105, which sparked an international outcry.

Russia, which has suffered many military setbacks recently, continued its firing on Tuesday, on a smaller scale, hitting energy installations in western Ukraine very far from the front. The shootings had been carried out in retaliation for the explosion which partly destroyed the Russian bridge of Crimea, of great strategic importance.

Russian President Vladimir Putin was satisfied with these massive strikes on Friday, and had judged that new large-scale bombardments on the cities of Ukraine were not necessary “for the moment”.
