Could another front be opening up in Ukraine? Evgueni Prigojine, the boss of the Russian paramilitary group Wagner, fighting against Ukraine, accuses this same army of having bombed military camps of its own group. A “very large number” of Wagner fighters were killed in these bombardments, denounced Yevgueni Prigojine, directly targeting the Russian military command.

In several audio messages published on Telegram, Evgueni Prigojine promises to “respond” to these bombardments attributed to the Russian army. “The Wagner Group command committee has decided that those who have military responsibility for the country must be stopped,” Yevgeny Prigozhin said in an audio message, calling for no “resistance” to his troops and saying that Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu would be “stopped”. “This is not a military coup, but a march for justice, our actions do not hinder the armed forces,” he said.

For its part, the Russian Ministry of Defense quickly denied these strikes in a press release. “The messages and videos posted on social networks by Yevgeny Prigozhin on alleged strikes by the Russian Ministry of Defense on rear bases of the paramilitary group Wagner do not correspond to reality and are a provocation”, a- he declared. The Kremlin for its part indicated that Vladimir Putin had been informed and that “necessary measures” were in progress, without detailing their nature. Authorities later announced that an investigation against Wagner’s boss had been opened for “calling a mutiny”.

Prigozhin criticizes the Russian army

Earlier in the day, this Friday, Evgueni Prigozhin had assured in a video interview that “the (Russian) army is withdrawing in the areas of Zaporizhia and Kherson”, while “the Ukrainian armed forces are pushing”. “There is no control, there are no military successes” from Moscow, Yevgueni Prigojine had again hacked, affirming that the Russian soldiers “wash themselves with their blood”, a way of asserting that they suffer heavy losses.

In recent days, Vladimir Putin has repeated that the Ukrainian counter-offensive was a failure and that the forces of kyiv had suffered almost “catastrophic” losses. On Thursday, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu assured that the Ukrainian army was in the process of “regrouping” after failing to break through Russian defenses. Yevgueni Prigojine described these statements as “deep deception”, accusing the general staff of “hiding” the Russian difficulties and losses on the ground.

At the beginning of June, Evgueni Prigojine had already accused a Russian unit of having attacked several of his men. On May 17, “men from the (Russian) Ministry of Defense were seen carrying out roadmining behind the positions of the Wagner units”, according to statements made at the time by Yevgueni Prigojine in a report addressed to this ministry. And to ensure: “Wagner’s fighters who carried out the mine clearance were attacked by fire from the positions of the Ministry of Defense. »
