Warholm wins ahead of Vaillant in Berlin

In 47 sec 24, Warholm was ahead – by more than a second – of Frenchman Ludvy Vaillant, who improved his personal best in the 400m hurdles by four hundredths (48.26 against 48.30).

Norway’s Kartsen Warholm, the reigning Olympic champion and world record holder, ran his second fastest 400m hurdles of the summer in Berlin on Sunday after a troubled start to the season with a muscle injury.

Injured in a thigh at the beginning of June for his comeback, the Scandinavian hurdler had only finished seventh at the Worlds in Eugene (United States) in July, before bouncing back and retaining European gold in Munich (Germany) in August, in 47 sec 12, his best time of the season. However, his shortened summer did not allow him to qualify for the Diamond League final next week in Zurich (Switzerland).

“I’m happy to be able to do these fast times at the end of the season. It shows that I’m back, strong, more for this season, but for the next one, appreciates Warholm.
