Ministry of Health Warns Public Against Dangerous “Whipped Gas” Sold Illegally at Parties and Kiosks

The Ministry of Health has issued a warning to the public regarding the use of “whipped gas,” a dangerous substance that is being sold illegally at parties and kiosks across the country. This warning comes after two young women in the south of the country were hospitalized and suffered significant neurological damage as a result of using “whipped gas.” The case is currently under review by the Ministry of Health.

This incident marks the second case in the past month in which the use of “gas foam” has resulted in the hospitalization of young people. “Gas foam” is a substance commonly used by children and teenagers, but its use can lead to severe side effects, including impaired consciousness, neurological damage, paranoia, anxiety, dizziness, hallucinations, and a drop in blood pressure.

Over the past year, authorities have seized hundreds of thousands of containers of “gas canisters.” Recently, a joint operation between the Division for Enforcement and Supervision of the Ministry of Health and the Israel Police led to the seizure of large quantities of “gas canisters” suspected to be sold to teenagers. These seizures occurred during explosions and in supermarkets in Ashdod. In response to the dangers posed by the product, closure orders have been issued to two locations where “Kasfat gas” containers were being sold.

Dr. Roni Berkowitz, the director of the Department of Enforcement and Supervision at the Ministry of Health, emphasized the importance of understanding the risks associated with “gas canisters.” Dr. Berkowitz stated, “The use of ‘gas canisters’ endangers the most precious to us – our children. It is a seemingly innocent product that ‘only’ leads to a feeling of euphoria, but it may lead to severe side effects, some of which are life-threatening. I call on the children and the youth – take care of your health and do not use ‘gas foam.’ And parents – know the dangers of the product and talk to your children about the issue.”

The Ministry of Health urges the public to exercise caution and report any suspicious activity related to the sale or use of “whipped gas” or any similar substances. It is crucial for individuals to prioritize their health and safety by avoiding this potentially harmful product.
