The Chilean Meteorological Directorate (DMC) issued a weather alert due to high temperature event for eight regions of the country.

The heat wave will affect foothills, mountain ranges and valleys between the regions of Coquimbo and La Araucanía. According to the entity, these temperatures are due to a warm high pressure synoptic condition.

From the DMC they indicated that this type of warnings are delivered when “weather phenomena are forecast with a moderate-high degree of severity, potentially risky.”

How long does the heat wave last?

According to the DMC, the high temperatures will continue until the afternoon of Tuesday February 13th.

  • Coquimbo Region (Coastal Cordillera, Precordillera and precordilleran valleys)
  • Valparaíso Region (Precordillera and precordilleran valleys)
  • Metropolitan Region (Coastal Mountain Range, Valley, Precordillera)
  • O’Higgins Region (Coastal Mountain Range, Valley, Foothills)
  • Maule Region (Valley, Precordillera)
  • Ñuble Region (Valley, Precordillera)
  • Biobío Region (Valley, Precordillera)
  • La Araucanía Region (Valley, Precordillera).

  • Monday, February 12: Maximum temperature of 33°C.
  • Tuesday, February 13: Maximum temperature of 32°C
  • Wednesday, February 14: Maximum temperature of 32°C
  • Thursday, February 15: Maximum temperature of 31°C
  • Friday, February 16: Maximum temperature of 32°C
