The Ministry of Human Resources on Monday reminded private companies that salaries should be transferred through the Wage Protection System (WPS) on fixed dates.

Employees’ salaries should be paid through a bank account. Maher al-Obed, the ministry’s assistant undersecretary, said the ministry was trying to ensure workers’ right to wages in return for their commitment to perform their duties. Paying the right salary on time will increase the productivity of the worker.

Launched in 2009, WPS The system ensures timely pay. All companies registered with the Ministry in accordance with Ministerial Order No. 739 of 2016 relating to wage protection are subject to WPS. Salary should be paid through the system.

Authorities will impose heavy fines on companies that fail to pay their salaries and those who do not comply with the rules. It is an offense if the wages are not transferred within 10 days after the due date. If the company submits false information to avoid a fine, the company will be fined Dh5,000 per worker and a maximum of Dh50,000 if multiple employees are involved.

W.P.S. Failure to pay the salary within the stipulated time will result in a fine of Dh1,000 per worker. A worker will be fined 5,000 dirhams for signing a fake salary slip. All companies and businesses registered with the Ministry are subject to the WPS. Must be signed up.

Payment must be made through an approved system. Employers can also use the ‘Statement of Account’ service to transfer salaries, officials said.
