Zakir Hussain, a Kalaimamani award-winning dancer who tried to enter the Ranganathar Temple in Srirangam, Trichy, has been barred from entering the temple for being an Islamist.
Zakir Hussain has been a Bharata dancer and Vai வைவava orator for the past 30 years. She has received many awards from the Government of India ‘Social Reconciliation Award’, the Government of Tamil Nadu ‘Kalaimamani Award’ and ‘Natya Selvan’. He arrived at the Srirangam Ranganathar Temple at around 1.30 pm yesterday for a Sami Darshan. It is said that Rangarajan Narasimhan, who was at the temple gate at the time, chased Zakir Hussain out of the temple in the name of religion.
On his Facebook page, Zakir Hussain described his humiliation and injustice, saying: This injury will keep me going forever ‘and there was great excitement to post.
Further, in this regard, Zakir Hussain told the Trichy Municipal Commissioner of Police, ‘Although I was born an Islamist and lived my life as a Vaishnavite, I have done many Vaishnava revisions. When I went to the temple to visit the Thiruvarangam Aranganatha in a peaceful manner at noon yesterday, I was threatened with death by a person named Rangarajan Narasimhan, insulted and expelled from the temple for speaking in vulgar and religiously inappropriate words. Many devotees and temple administrators were present at the time of the incident. The incident was also recorded on the surveillance camera there. To this day the Thiruvaranga temple administrators and temple priests have never denied me permission on the basis of my birth.
But no one was able to stop him when the incident happened. Everyone froze in shock. The reason is that it made me so loud in the name of religion and caused division in the crowd. Out of shame Koenig narrowed down and left the temple of Emperor Aranganathan. I was admitted to the Rajiv Gandhi Hospital in Chennai last night and returned after receiving treatment for high blood pressure and chest pain. Rangarajan Narasimhan should be immediately arrested and prosecuted for his untouchability and actions against Indian sovereignty and religious harmony. ‘
