Breaking the news was daughter Kelly Katherine Tata who had also previously made it known that her father was ill with Alzheimer’s in 2018. The actor, born in Pittsburgh on September 13, 1936, has starred in numerous television series including Gomer Pyle, USMC, the original Batman series and Lost in space. But his face is inextricably linked to Beverly Hills, a point of reference in the life and vicissitudes of the protagonists with his Peach Pit, with a character that he continued to play also in the spin off 90210.
Ian Zearing (Steve in the series) immediately recalled Tata via social media, describing him as one of the happiest people he has ever worked with, generous with his wisdom as well as with his kindness. The actor’s disappearance comes a few days after that of another Beverly Hills performer, Denise Dowse, the school’s vice principal.
