What material are leather pants made of?

Lederhosen are usually made from high-quality deerskin or other supple types of leather. The deerskin used often comes from Australia or New Zealand.

Interestingly, mass producers often use a material called “wild buck leather” for their pants. Then it is not deer leather, but leather from domestic goats.

Instructions for washing leather pants

Washing leather pants by hand:

To hand wash leather pants you will need about half a bottle of leather detergent, depending on the water volume of 10 to 15 liters. The water should have a temperature of no more than 35 °C. Allow the pants to soak for 30 minutes, clean them by hand, using a brush if necessary. Finally, rinse the leather trousers thoroughly with clean water.

Cleaning leather pants in the washing machine:

If you want to clean your leather pants in the washing machine, add about half a bottle of leather detergent to the detergent drawer, depending on the volume of water. Use the gentle and wool cycle and set the temperature to a maximum of 35°C, as water that is too hot can damage the leather. Spinning should be done manually. Please note, however, that the detergent may remove unwanted signs of wear and that dark leather pants may discolor.

To dry the cleaned leather trousers at the end, place them on a towel and turn them over every few hours. This should be done in a place with low humidity.

Be sure to avoid putting the pants in the dryer or exposing them to direct sunlight! After drying, you can roughen the leather with a brush.
