US officials have publicly warned that Iran is making active efforts to intensify protests in the US over the US administration’s support for Israel in the conflict with Palestine.
As reported by Day.Az with reference to Interfax, CNN writes about this.
“These protests have created significant divisions within the country, making them a ripe target for foreign actors like Iran interested in exacerbating divisions within the United States,” the report said.
Thus, the TV channel cites a statement by Director of National Intelligence Ervil Haines, which says: “Americans targeted by this Iranian campaign may not realize that they are interacting with or receiving support from a foreign government.”
She called on “all Americans to remain vigilant as they interact online with accounts and entities they do not personally know.”
At the same time, Haines acknowledged that, according to intelligence, “Americans participating in the protests are expressing in good faith their views on the conflict in Gaza,” which Iran is trying to exploit.
The channel recalls that the conflict in Gaza has sparked protests across the United States, particularly on college campuses, due to the number of civilian casualties.
