by time news

The tensions in the Far East: The Chinese Foreign Ministry announced today (Saturday) that the Foreign Minister, Wong Yisent a message to his American counterpart, Anthony Blinken, in which it is stated that “Washington is sending very wrong and dangerous messages regarding Taiwan”. In the statement, it was emphasized that “Wong warned that the actions in support of Taiwan’s independence lead to the fact that the likelihood of order and peace in the region will be very low.”

Meanwhile, the Chinese Foreign Ministry stated that “the Taiwan issue is an internal Chinese matter and the United States has no right to interfere in the methods of solving the problem.” The messages were conveyed in a conversation held between the two foreign ministers last Friday, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The American side stated that “Maintaining peace and stability in Taiwan is of utmost importance in accordance with our policy. Washington is committed to the policy.”

The meeting between the foreign ministers came against the backdrop of growing tensions around the countries. This is the first meeting between the foreign ministers since the intense talks last July in Indonesia, where both sides seemed optimistic about achieving stability. Yesterday, US President Joe Biden announced that his country supports the independence of Taiwan, and emphasized that “Washington will provide protection to Taiwan in the event of a military conflict with China.”

As you may recall, earlier this week, the American president spoke at length on the “60 Minutes” program on the American CBS network and the tensions in the Far East. Biden sent a threatening message in China’s direction, declaring that “if it invades Taiwan, we will defend it.” This, after at the beginning of the month, the US announced a new arms deal with the country, worth about 1.1 billion dollars.

Also, the American president said that “the Americans will defend Taiwan in the event of a Chinese invasion.” Biden added that “I called President Xi and told him, ‘If you think that the Americans will continue to invest in China while violating the sanctions of the Western countries against Russia, I think you are making a big mistake.'”
