During this ceremony, Mr. Amrani underlined the importance attached by Morocco to the OAS, the main governmental forum in the Western Hemisphere for dialogue and action on issues relating to democracy, human rights of man, security and development.

He also welcomed the quality of the relations of friendship and cooperation between the Kingdom and the member states of this Pan-American organization, based in particular on mutual respect and shared prosperity.

The Ambassador of His Majesty the King and Secretary General Almagro took this opportunity to review bilateral relations between Morocco and the OAS, the means to further develop them as well as possible areas of cooperation.

Mr. Amrani did not fail, on this occasion, to underline Morocco’s commitment to strengthening political dialogue with this oldest regional institution in the world and to promoting a more fruitful and in-depth exchange in areas of common interest. .

In a statement to MAP, Mr. Almagro said he “highly appreciates the role of the Kingdom of Morocco as a permanent observer and its interest in strengthening dialogue and cooperation with the OAS and Latin America and the Caribbean.” .

“The OAS appreciates the importance of building stronger ties between the Americas and African countries to address common global challenges, and thanks Morocco for its leadership,” added the Secretary General of this regional organization.

Morocco has been a permanent observer to the OAS since November 18, 1981.

Founded in 1948, this organization brings together all 35 states of the Americas and constitutes, according to its statutes, “the main governmental forum of the Continent for political, legal and social issues”.
