Chennai: Kovid has confirmed Indian all-rounder Washington Sundar. He was named in the squad for the ODI series against South Africa (SAvIND). With this, the chances of Sundar joining the team faded. However, the BCCI has not yet made an official decision on the matter. The series starts on January 19th.

The team is scheduled to travel from Mumbai to South Africa in the coming days. The player, who is currently in Chennai, may not reach Mumbai. A BCCI official has ruled out a player for the South African series. He said the 22-year-old’s test result was positive a few days ago.

Sunder last played for India last March. The injury kept him off the ground. He recently played for Tamil Nadu in the Vijay Hazare and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. The performance in the tournament paved the way for the national team.

The first match will be played on the 19th of this month. The second ODI will be played at the same ground on the 21st. The third ODI will be played in Cape Town on the 23rd.
