Co-chaired by Morocco, alongside Saudi Arabia, the United States, and Italy, this body plays a central role in coordinating regional efforts to counter terrorist threats on the continent.

The statement also commends the group’s continued efforts in promoting an active role for African partners in countering the expansion of Daesh/ISIS and other terrorist groups on the continent.

It further highlights the imperative to counter the propaganda and destabilizing actions of non-state armed groups in Africa. These actions undermine cooperative efforts against terrorism, hence the need for close and coordinated collaboration with African countries under the aegis of the Africa Focus Group, indicate the member countries of the Coalition.

Chaired by the American Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, the 11th ministerial meeting of the Global Coalition against Daesh brought together delegations from 87 member countries, including Morocco, represented by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans residing abroad, Nasser Bourita.

Created in 2014, this coalition aims to dismantle terrorist networks affiliated with this terrorist group, dry up their sources of financing, counter their propaganda, and stabilize the regions freed from their influence.
