Hacker Walter Delgatti Neto testifying to the CPMI on the 8th of January
The defense of the hacker Walter Delgatti Neto manifested this Thursday (24) in relation to the CPMI request of the Coup Acts to access his bank and communication records, considering it to be meaningless due to the previous actions of the Federal Police.
According to the defense, both Delgatti’s computer and cell phone have already been seized by the authorities, which would make the commission’s request unnecessary.
The lawyer pointed out that the CPMI could, instead, ask the Federal Police to share the information already collected during investigations related to Vaza Jato and the invasion of judicial systems.
The central focus of the investigations now falls on the visits made by Delgatti to the Ministry of Defense, during the Bolsonaro administration, to discuss alleged vulnerabilities in the electronic voting machines.
The defense hopes that both the Federal Police and the Ministry of Defense can provide records and images of these visits, in order to prove the statements made by the hacker.
In addition, Delgatti’s lawyer asked the Federal Supreme Court to revoke the preventive detention. This request is based on the hacker’s collaboration with the CPMI and the Federal Police. However, Minister Alexandre de Moraes sent a request to the Attorney General’s Office for analysis and opinion.
In the face of these developments, Walter Delgatti Neto’s defense emphasizes the previous collection of evidence and information by the authorities, which, in the lawyers’ opinion, makes CPMI’s request to access the hacker’s records and communications redundant.
The central question now resides in the investigations into the visits to the Ministry of Defense and in the attempts to corroborate the statements made by Delgatti. The wait is now focused on the analysis of the PGR in relation to the request for revocation of preventive detention.
