In the shadow of the war – and in the midst of preparations for Yom Kippur and Sukkot: Chabad emissaries from all over Ukraine gathered today (Thursday) for the completion of writing a Torah book in the city of Dnipro – as a sign of respect and affection for the city’s Chabad emissary and rabbi, Rabbi Shmuel Kaminetzky.

The rabbis of the communities and Chabad emissaries wished to salute Rabbi Kaminetzky for the great assistance and support he has given them over the past years, through the introduction of an elegant Torah scroll in his honor.

The team of rabbis and emissaries in Ukraine included: Rabbi Shlomo Salomon of Kermanchog, Rabbi Shlomo Wilhelm of Zhytomyr, Rabbi Meir Holzberg of Belzerkov, Rabbi Levy Stambler of Manskoya, Rabbi Liron Adri of Kerivoy Rog, Rabbi Shneor Zalman Schneursah of Rabana, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Glitzenstein of Chernowitz , Rabbi Shneor Zalman Deitch of Haditch, Rabbi Dov Axelrod of Cherkas, Rabbi Nachum HaCohen of Erntroi of Parfuzia, Rabbi Mordechai Lebenhartz of Kiev, Rabbi Simcha Lebenhartz of Kiev, Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Segal of Poltava and Rabbi Dan Meruta of Krupivnitsky.

On the jacket of the Torah book, words of appreciation for Rabbi Kaminetzky were embroidered: “‘May he live long in his kingdom’ and he will continue to lead the sheep of his pasture with genius together with his family until the coming of our righteous Messiah. A gift from the emissaries of K. K. Admor in Ukraine.

Rabbi Kaminetzky, despite the difficult war, did not leave his place of mission and remained in the city despite the bombings, with inspiring devotion, and continued to lead his community with a high hand, despite the many challenges.

At the end of the writing of the letters, there was also the opportunity for Chabad emissaries in Ukraine to meet together, to say goodbye to each other, for the first time since the outbreak of the war.

The couriers exchanged experiences from the past difficult months and their plans for the holiday month.

Rabbi Kaminetzky very excitedly expressed his appreciation to the emissaries – for the personal gesture.
