Chief of Staff Aviv Kochavi visited the “Beyond the Horizon” exercise, in which an IDF division set out on a ship and landed in Cyprus as part of an exercise for a possible landing in Lebanon, as part of the “Chariots of Fire” exercise – the IDF’s war month.

Kochavi said of the visit: “In recent weeks, IDF units have been practicing a variety of combat scenarios in the various arenas as part of training and improving the army’s capabilities for war as part of the ‘War Month’ in the IDF. The “Beyond the Horizon” exercise, which takes place on the land of Cyprus overseas, is fundamentally challenging and allows the forces to practice a series of operations in various outlines that embody the essence of the IDF’s readiness for the variety of threat scenarios on the battlefield.
I get the impression that the forces participating in the exercise, from all arms of the IDF, show very high levels of professionalism and readiness for action. Cooperation with the Cypriot army is another way of expressing the IDF’s operational and significant capabilities and it allows for mutual specialization between the armies. This is a key part of the strategic cooperation and strengthening the connection between the Israel Defense Forces and the Cyprus Army. “
