Watching False Identification: Iron Dome Activated in Upper Galilee

Today, two Iron Dome interceptors were launched in the north of the country despite the absence of a detected target. This was due to a malfunction rather than a security incident aimed at our country. Local residents in the Upper Galilee reported hearing explosions in the northern sky and were advised to take refuge in a protected area for ten minutes. The Upper Galilee Regional Council released a statement instructing residents not to head to the shelters since they were locked. Following an inspection by the IDF of the situation, residents were informed that there was no threat. However, some Arab media outlets reported that an unmanned aircraft had breached Israeli airspace in the Upper Galilee and was subsequently intercepted by the Air Force.

Residents of the Upper Galilee recorded explosions in the northern sky. Immediately afterwards, the Upper Galilee Regional Council issued a statement stating that “Due to a security incident, one must immediately enter a protected area (MMD/security room) for 10 minutes.” It was also stated that “Do not go to the shelters, they are locked at this stage.” After the inspection of the incident In front of the IDF, the residents were informed that it was a false identification.

Nevertheless, Arab media reported on “an unmanned aircraft that penetrated Israel’s airspace in the Upper Galilee and was intercepted by the Air Force.”
