Madurai-Retired employees are going to protest against the Tamil Nadu Drinking Water and Drainage Board, which is refusing to provide subsidy even after the Chief Minister’s order. Tamil Nadu government employees and pensioners were given subsidy to 31 percent with an increase of 14 percent from 1.1.2022. Currently, from July 1, it has been increased by 3 percent to 34 percent. In this situation, there has been an uproar in the drinking water board that the pensioners have not yet been given 31 percent discount. The recently announced 34 per cent is given to those serving in the board. The rule that the pensioners should be given a raise whenever they get a raise has been violated here. As a result, more than 9,000 pensioners are receiving the same 17 percent subsidy before the corona period. They have met Local Government Minister KN Nehru six times in person and insisted on this. The pensioners expressed their displeasure that the authorities refused to implement this despite his assurance. Pandi, former joint secretary of the Drinking Water Board Anna Kardamakar Sangam said, “This has never happened in the history of the board. As a result, state-level protests will be held tomorrow (August 23). It is also going to happen in front of the board office in Mattuthavani, Madurai,” he said.
