Thodupuzha തിനാൽ Nine shutters of Mullaperiyar Dam were opened due to rising water level. The volume of water released was 7,215 cubic feet. The district collector said those on the banks of the Periyar should be vigilant.
Kerala had expressed concern over Tamil Nadu’s move to adjust the water level in the Mullaperiyar Dam to 142 feet. The matter was also brought to the notice of the oversight committee appointed by the Supreme Court. Chief Secretary VP Joy had written to the Chairman of the Oversight Committee requesting him to direct Tamil Nadu to bring the water level in the dam to a safe level as soon as possible due to heavy rains in the region.
