Water outage in Arequipa: the 9 supply points and tanker schedules | Sedapar | PERU

by time news

The Arequipa region has not had drinking water for two consecutive days, causing serious damage to the population, especially due to the climatic phenomena that are registered in the city.

According to Sedapar, the paralysis of this service is due to the increase in river flows, the fall of the huaicos and intense rains in the city, this meant that the residents momentarily do not have this resource.

The turbidity of the Chili River has grown to a point where it can no longer be adequately treated at the La Tomilla and Miguel de la Cuba Ibarra treatment plants, which supply water to the majority of Arequipa’s citizens. In response to this situation, Sedapar was forced to close the floodgates to avoid damage to the system.

When will water service return in Arequipa?

According to information presented by Sedapar, so far there is no exact date for the reestablishment of drinking water service in Arequipa.

It is worth mentioning that the restoration of drinking water depends on “the climatic condition” in Charcani, a town center in the Paucarpata district where the La Tomilla and Miguel de la Cuba Ibarra plants are located.
