Water policy: Pooling efforts and innovation, keystone for the implementation of the High Royal Guidelines (expert)

Casablanca – The pooling of efforts, vigilance, innovation and good governance of water resources are the keystone for the implementation of the High Guidelines contained in the speech of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, addressed to the Nation on the occasion of the Throne Day, stressed Mohamed Jalil, expert in climate and water resources.

Mr. Jalil thus stressed the importance of increasing efforts to address the challenges posed by water stress, specifying that this requires in particular the improvement of water infrastructure and the implementation of effective policies for the sustainable management of water resources.

It is also about maintaining great vigilance given that the context and data are constantly changing, he said in a statement to MAP. “Vigilance implies in particular the continuous monitoring of water resources, anticipation and the establishment of early warning systems,” he said.

HM the King also called for innovation, another strategic and particularly crucial aspect for developing new technologies and practices that will enable the efficient management of water resources, explained Mr. Jalil, Secretary General of the Moroccan Federation of Consulting and Engineering (FMCI).

It is also a question of governance, he noted, for optimal coordination between the different stakeholders involved in the management of water resources, thus minimizing waste and maximizing the effectiveness of the policies implemented.

Regarding the levers of the national water policy, Mr. Jalil indicated that the renewal of the levers is necessary because the paradigms and the socio-economic and demographic data have changed and the context in which we developed the water policy at the dawn of independence is no longer the same and to this are added the challenges imposed today by climate change.
