Water testing in panchayats; Public Health Department Directive

Gampam: The Public Health Department has ordered periodic testing of the drinking water distributed in panchayats.

The government has ordered distribution of protected drinking water in local bodies. In this, drinking water is mostly purified and distributed in Municipal Corporations, Municipalities and Municipalities. But in village panchayats, the water obtained from rivers and underground pipes is pumped and distributed as such. There is no treatment facility in any panchayat.

The Public Health Department, which has warned that the incidence of dengue will be high for another 3 months, has requested the panchayats to provide drinking water at the laboratories of the Drinking Water and Drainage Board for periodic testing. It should be noted that drinking water is tested every six months in municipalities and municipalities. Panchayats have also been advised to conduct water quality testing.
