Waze will be integrated into the multimedia system of Renault vehicles

by time news

Waze and the car manufacturer Renault have announced a first-of-its-kind collaboration that will integrate the popular navigation application as part of the vehicle’s multimedia system integrally and independently of the smartphone.

Until now, Waze was in a small number of vehicles when it was as part of an independent development system and not from the car manufacturer, and also depended on updates by third parties without full compatibility with the display. Now the application has been adapted to the Renault Group’s OpenR Link system (based on Android Automotive) with a smart and large screen when it will provide the familiar navigation interface alongside real-time traffic reports, preferred routes and saved destinations.

The first vehicles to integrate the Waze application will be the Austral and Megane E-Tech models that are available in Europe and will be launched early next year in Israel as well. Customers with the OpenR Link system can already download the Waze app to their car via the user interface or via the My Renault mobile app.

“As more and more Waze users join us on car platforms and as this type of technology continues to evolve, it’s important that we provide them with the best driving experiences. That’s why we’re happy and proud to announce our partnership with Renault. The integration of Waze’s routes, navigation and real-time alerts on the screen of Renault’s next-generation vehicles offer a smoother and more efficient driving experience. We look forward to bringing this new driving experience to as many users as possible around the world in 2023,” says Aron DiCastro, Director of Marketing and Partnerships at Waze.
