Watan Al-Youm: Investment Minister Kholoud Al-Saqqaf received in her office, on Sunday, the US Ambassador to Jordan, Yael Lambert, where they discussed a number of investment files and issues of common interest between the two countries, and ways to support and develop them.
Al-Saqqaf praised the depth of the strong Jordanian-American relations, and their peculiarity, which represents a solid foundation for moving towards broader horizons in the economic and investment fields, and the support that the United States provides to Jordan in the development sectors.
During the meeting, the Minister of Investment reviewed the general investment policy aimed at achieving economic and development visions aimed at providing job opportunities, increasing economic growth, improving competitiveness and the business environment, and the most important reforms that led to important developments in economic fields, such as the establishment of the Ministry of Investment to be the main reference for investment in the Kingdom and the issuance of Investment Environment Law No. 21 of 2022 and completing the legislation issued pursuant thereto and regulating the investment environment, in addition to approving the law on partnership projects between the public and private sectors.
Al-Saqqaf pointed out the keenness of the government and the Ministry of Investment to attract investments and remove obstacles facing investors, in line with the 2033 economic modernization vision, which aims to increase economic growth and increase gross domestic product rates to reach 5.6% over the next ten years, in addition to creating new job opportunities in the economy.
For her part, Lambert expressed her appreciation for meeting with the Minister of Investment and affirming the US Embassy’s full support for the Jordanian government’s goal to increase investment, promote economic growth, and create job opportunities for Jordanians.
It is noteworthy that the volume of American investments benefiting from the Investment Environment Law in Jordan amounts to approximately 1.1 billion US dollars, concentrated in the energy, communications, information technology, services and industrial sectors.
