The military wing of the Palestinian movement “Hamas” said today that it fired a salvo of rockets from southern Lebanon today at an Israeli command center on the other side of the border, DPA reported.

“The “Izzedine al-Qassam” brigades fired rockets from southern Lebanon at the headquarters of [израелската] 769th Eastern Brigade Gibor Camp in northern occupied Palestine,” the statement said.

The rockets were fired in response to “the massacres of the Zionist enemy in Gaza and the rebel West Bank”.

In response, an Israeli drone struck the village of Aitaa al-Shaab, a stronghold of the pro-Iranian Hezbollah movement, a key ally of Hamas.

Israeli media reported that about 13 of the rockets fired were intercepted by air defense systems, while the rest fell in open areas.

No injuries or property damage were reported.

The attack came shortly after the Israeli military announced that it had carried out multiple strikes on Hezbollah infrastructure in southern Lebanon overnight.

Meanwhile, Israeli airstrikes on three houses in the southern Gaza city of Rafah killed at least 25 Palestinians and wounded many others, medics said.

In Gaza City, in the northern Gaza Strip, Israeli warplanes struck two houses, killing at least four people and wounding several others, medical officials said. Two brothers were killed in the attack on the other house, BTA reported.

The strikes on Rafah, where nearly half of Gaza’s population of 2.3 million have sought refuge from months of Israeli bombardment, came hours before Egypt hosted the leaders of the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas to discuss prospects for a deal to end the the fire with Israel.
