On May 5, it was announced at the government meeting that Armenia has chosen the ferry operator that will sign contracts with “South Caucasian Railways” and “Russian Railways”.

Economy Minister Vahan Kerobyan stated that according to their plan, a regular ferry service between Poti and Kavkaz ports should be launched from June 15 at the latest, going twice a week in each direction, with space for 40 wagons and 50 trucks. The government is ready to fully subsidize the ferry sector.

At today’s government session, journalists asked Kerobyan why the launch of the ferry is delayed.

The minister said that only the permits of the Dutch company remained to be obtained.

“You know that many European companies apply sanctions against Russia, the Dutch company also has sanctions applied against Russia, now we are negotiating so that sanctions are not applied to our ferries. Everything is ready, except for the last permit,” explained the Minister of Economy.
