Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Minister of Oil, Hayan Abdul Ghani, confirmed today, Thursday, work on establishing the Wasit Oil Company, while noting that international companies have been invited to develop 3 fields and an exploratory patch in Wasit Governorate.
A statement from the Ministry of Oil, received by the (INA), stated that “Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Minister of Oil Hayan Abdul-Ghani arrived in Wasit Governorate and met with its governor, Muhammad Jamil Al-Mayahi, and with members of the government and local departments in the governorate.”
The Minister of Oil said, according to the statement: “Wasit Governorate receives government attention and support, and we are keen to communicate with the local government and the governor to advance the service situation and develop the oil industry.”
He pointed out, “Issues and projects of common interest were discussed to advance the service situation and develop the oil industry in the governorate,” stressing “work to establish the Wasit Oil Company.”
He pointed out, “Specialized companies were invited to participate in investment opportunities to build the Wasit Investment Refinery, and international companies were also invited to develop 3 fields and an exploratory patch in Wasit Governorate within the fifth complementary oil licensing round.”
The Minister of Oil stressed “work to develop the distribution sector and advance the service situation in the governorate,” noting that “allocations for social benefits have been increased to support the service and health sectors for citizens.”
For his part, the Governor of Wasit, Muhammad Jamil Al-Mayahi, praised “the support of the government and the ministry to develop the oil industry in the governorate,” expressing his hope “to achieve more development projects that contribute to improving the economic reality of the governorate.”
