This is the plan that GERB leader Boyko Borisov has for the election results.
The former prime minister emphasized that he will bear responsibility for this. And he said that GERB will not participate in talks about an equidistant prime minister. This is typical backstage somewhere in the dark, he was emphatic.
Borisov pointed out that Atanas Atanasov from DSB said that a diplomat, well-known, equally distant, should be sought for prime minister. “To me, Mitov (Daniel Mitov is a former foreign minister and leader of the list in Varna – bel, ed.) seemed suitable to me – a diplomat, they know him abroad. If he is, I will agree,” he still left an option for an understanding with PP-DB Borisov.
He also explained how the assembly for the Denkov – Gabriel cabinet was made. “Alexei gathered us in the monastery in Samokov and we made the assembly in front of the public, transparently and clearly. Now I am offered the same, but I don’t know where this independent is and where we will meet. It will probably be in Varna, nobody has time to came in 6 hours,” he interjected, referring to travel problems due to the unfinished Hemus Highway.
“Let’s get a good result for the last time. If we don’t form a government this time too, I won’t gather you for the eighth election, we’ll just go for coffee,” he threatened.
GERB presents highlights from its pre-election program in Varna today. Party leader Boyko Borisov also came to the city. The leader of the list, which is number 18 in the integral ballot, is the former foreign minister and current deputy chairman of the party, Daniel Mitov.
Borisov visited Byala, Varna region earlier today. “One of the largest and most modernized fishing ports in Bulgaria is being built on the territory of the municipality. We managed to reach this stage because in 2020 we secured national and European funding for this extremely important project,” the former prime minister pointed out. He received an assurance from Mayor Peño Nenov that the port will be ready as soon as the shore fortification is finished. “In this way, the economy and tourism of the area will change completely. The facility gathers up to 450 boats, and its large capacity attracts many fishing enthusiasts,” the GERB leader is satisfied.
GERB’s pre-election event was opened by the former mayor of Varna, Ivan Portnih, who complained that the city is at a standstill and many of the projects started by GERB have already been blocked. In order to have a stable government and for Varna to have a stable lobby in the National Assembly, to continue the construction, it is necessary to vote with number 18, Portnih was categorical before inviting to the stage the candidates for people’s representatives, as well as those who reached the runoff for the partial local elections in the area.
“In the last 4 years, there have been many leaders, men and women of the party, who claim that our nation is poor, broken. Complaining and whining are food for these subjects, they think that no matter how many untruths you say, someone will still believe you”, stated Daniel Mitov . And he pointed out that instead GERB proposed a conversation about the future – about security, rehabilitation, accelerated absorption of EU funds, fiscal and financial discipline, education, etc. GERB has the best specialists in every field, Mitov was categorical. He emphasized that GERB always sought a dialogue with everyone.
“Focusing on the mud and gloom can only lead you into the quagmire. People are starting to lose faith in parties and institutions, and finally in themselves. This is apathy, this is a dangerous road. It’s time to show the eternal grumblers a red card. Let’s show them that they need to stop making excuses and focus on moving forward and solving problems,” he said.
Kostadin Angelov, who is the first for GERB in Veliko Tarnovo, noted that during the campaign they met many people, and Varna is the maritime capital of Bulgaria and has resisted all attempts to steal democracy. “In this hall I see the faces of winners. On the 27th we will win. Mobilize all acquaintances and relatives – GERB does not set itself the first place in the elections, but the formation of a working government that will solve the problems that have been swept under the carpet for several years “, however, he called for more support.
“The change turned out to be a round zero. Everything we talked about remains only on paper,” he said, after which he promised not to speak negatively. We know how to manage this country, assured the former health minister. Angelov reviewed the pre-election programs of all parties and only GERB had a management program, the others only had a pre-election program. And in the Health sector, that of GERB is the clearest and solves specific strategic problems.
After that, he gave the floor to the “best builder” – the former regional minister Nikolay Nankov, and made the remark that GERB’s roads are still standing, while those of others are falling apart.
Nankov complained that he traveled from Sofia to Varna for 6 hours. And he recalled that Kiril Petkov promised to build two highways each. I thought I would get there in two hours, that’s how much they built, he quipped. Nankov also recalled the unfulfilled promises of the Prime Minister for the construction of bridges and tunnels in the country.
“We often hear criticism of what happened during our administration. But there was construction, development, stability, real income growth, zero income inflation. And we took responsibility, but for the last 4 years, who took any responsibility?” he asked the former regional minister. He also praised the team of former Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev for almost 100% absorption of European funds.
Donchev noted that we should talk about the future. “I’m afraid it’s difficult if we don’t clarify what happened in the past. Bulgaria must answer to itself how we got here. Seventh elections, with the local and presidential elections, in 4 months we are in elections. This is a senseless democracy, a country, which is moving without direction. Look at what candidates there are – some have passed through educational institutions without commitment, others will cut ears, some are frankly hallucinating,” he said. And the dumbest thing was for someone to explain to the Bulgarians that they got rich.
“Bulgaria had a goal and a direction. It was clear what would happen, Hemus, innovation centers. There was money, there were opportunities,” Donchev also said. And he insisted on answering who is to blame for Bulgaria now having no direction and chaos.
Donchev emphasized that there must be a clear direction for the development of the country. “We have the knowledge, the momentum, and the experience to implement everything, we have proven it. The most important priority is to heal the open wounds in Bulgarian society. Bulgarians are divided into groups that hate, slander and insult each other. A quarreling family it’s not good. Here, political leadership and wisdom suggest that we unite at least a little and detoxify society from hatred,” said the former deputy prime minister.
Former Prime Minister Borissov regretted that entry into Schengen is in question – France, Germany and the Netherlands have closed their borders. “What should be our priority? And if they accept us, tomorrow there will already be border control at these borders. This topic will be valid in 1-2 years, when the EU deals with illegal migration. Only we can guarantee zero migration and Schengen. And they know it in Austria,” stressed Borisov.
He pointed out that some have indicated the Eurozone as their priority, but this has already failed, even though GERB put our country in the waiting room, as well as in the European Banking Union. “On the same day, the protests started. Because banks could no longer be bankrupted. How can you not protest when you cannot steal GERB’s assets?
It was as if we had been invited to the best club, we were given the menu and we were waiting for the waiter to sit at the table. Where are the speakers of the protests – they were on TV every day. Where is the euro now? She is gone,” Borisov is angry.
He also indicated frightening indicators – inflation 200%, interest payments 217 million, 18 billion deficit.
Borisov called on people to vote “to the max for GERB” to end this chaos.
“In Sofia, I built the best subway, it is second only to Norway, but it is 23 times more expensive there.
Over 1300, there is no highway to Varna, and there won’t be if you drive it like this. And we would have built it,” said the former prime minister.
“I passed through Burgas, I saw Pomorie and Ravda, we made a doll of them with our mayors. In Byala, it has become fantastic. And at the entrance from Burgas, what we asphalted – the highway to Varna. I wanted to build you a highway, but it’s gone.” the GERB leader also said. “I love Varna. It should have been the magistala. But if we drive like this, it won’t exist because there is no one to build it. It would be ready with me,” added the former prime minister.
“And we will renegotiate the recovery plan, we will save at least 50-60% of the money and we will work on the European funds. If Kotsev (Blagomir Kotsev is the mayor of Varna – note ed.) wants it, we will do it,” the former prime minister promised the people of Varna.
He was indignant that Bulgaria does not use the resources that the EU gives in order to catch up with the others – we only take 4-5% of what is allocated.
Borisov regretted the sharp political rhetoric and opposition in society.
“It’s as if we are not Bulgarians, but warring tribes on the same territory. I don’t understand what we have to share. Instead of the leaders getting together, everyone making a compromise and understanding what is important, everyone sets conditions for me without knowing the results. I am a compromiser man. We are one, fist, I can’t betray you,” said the GERB leader.
