Thiruvananthapuram – External Affairs Minister S. Jayashankar has said that he is confident that the truth in the case of gold smuggling through diplomatic baggage will come out and the central government will take action when the action is required. He was participating in the Meet the Press program organized by Journalist Union in Thiruvananthapuram.

The gold smuggling case is under the consideration of the court and the investigating agencies. There is no further comment as the proceedings regarding the case are ongoing. ‘So we know there is a problem. Let’s wait until we find out the truth. We have faith in the investigating agencies and they will do it’ – S. Jayashankar said. To a question about the CBI investigation in the gold smuggling case, Jayashankar said that this is not a political dispute as Kerala is discussing, but a diplomatic matter between the two countries and appropriate investigation agencies will investigate and take a decision.

S. Jayashankar also replied to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s statement that the External Affairs Minister, who is supposed to look after world affairs, was visiting Kazhakootam on a flyover. Jayashankar asked that if he came to know about the corruption going on at the lower level with a political motive, his goals would be different.

It means that ministers are not doing their job if they don’t evaluate the development plans or if they don’t know about the plans. In the Modi government, ministers work as a team. Everything including matters like Covid, vaccination, education, railway etc. is discussed as a team. All this will be understood by those who understand development beyond politics. We call it development, some call it politics.

The minister asked how the meeting with the people of the country can be said to be politically motivated. Everyone has the right to believe in their own politics. He spent most of his visit assessing the Prime Minister’s plans. If it is seen as political to evaluate the electricity in homes and projects in the colonies, then that is their point of view.

Jayashankar said that the situation in Sri Lanka is complicated. India will extend all support to the people of Sri Lanka. Intervening to overcome the economic crisis in Sri Lanka. The situation on the Chinese border is being cautiously assessed. S. Jayashankar said that discussions are going on both sides at the military and official levels.
