Japanese Ambassador to Iraq Futoshi Matsumoto confirmed today, Monday, that he discussed with Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani the project of converting waste into energy.

Matsumoto said in a tweet on the (x) Twitter platform previously – followed by the (INA) – “Today I held a discussion with Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani about the regional situation and bilateral cooperation between Iraq and Japan.”
Matsumoto praised the “positive and constructive role played by Iraq in the current regional situation, including Gaza,” stressing that “Japan will continue to work with regional stakeholders for peace and stability.”
He added, “With regard to bilateral relations, I touched on the progress made in the Basra crude oil refinery, and the importance of loans provided in Japanese yen for future projects in Iraq.”
He pointed out that he also discussed “Hitachi Zosen Innova’s technology in the waste-to-energy project in Baghdad,” stating, “We fully agreed that there will be more work between Japan and Iraq.”
