We do not have a preferred candidate for President of the United States

Russia does not have a preferred candidate in the US presidential elections in November, but “the Democrats are more predictable,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, quoted by TASS.

“We don’t have a preferred candidate, but of course the Democrats are more predictable. What Putin said about the predictability (of US President Joe Biden) applies to practically all Democrats, including Vice President Kamala Harris,” said Peskov, BTA reports.

He noted that a continuation of the US policy towards Russia can be predicted.

At the same time, Peskov said that Russian President Vladimir Putin never allows himself to be rude to the leaders of other countries, while recalling how Biden once called his Russian colleague a “murderer”.

“President Putin is always extremely careful in his statements about his colleagues. He never allows himself, not only rudeness, but even discourtesy to the leaders of other countries. Of course, it was incomprehensible to him when the heads of other countries, especially the head of state of the United States, used in his vocabulary such words when talking about his colleague,” he said.

At the same time, Peskov doubted the claims of the former American president and current candidate for the office of the Republican Party, Donald Trump, that there is an opportunity, in case he is elected, to solve the conflict in Ukraine in a day.

“I don’t think there is a magic wand. It is not possible to do anything in one day,” said Peskov, commenting on Trump’s promises.

“If we assume that the next president of the United States declares during his inaugural speech that the United States is for peace and therefore ends its support for Ukraine, stops all military aid programs and calls the countries to sit down at the negotiating table, then in general, on in the morning, something in someone’s head will change, especially in Kiev,” the Kremlin spokesman said. At the same time, he noted that these are hypothetical considerations.

Trump has repeatedly promised to resolve the Ukrainian conflict even before taking office. He also noted that if he wins the election, he will immediately personally address the presidents of Ukraine and Russia with a call to start negotiations.
