A major demand of the tourism industry before the start of the summer tourist season is the capacity of our consulates, especially in Central Asia, where the recruitment of workers from third countries for the needs of the sector mainly takes place, to increase their capacity. Talks have been held and we believe that this is achievable. We expect a growth of about 15 percent in tourism in Bulgaria. This was announced to journalists at the “Sunny Beach” resort complex by the acting minister of tourism, Evtim Miloshev. According to him, another important topic for the industry is the amendments and additions to the Law on Foreigners in Bulgaria.

“At the moment, the debate is going on in the National Assembly. This will be the best sign from the people’s representation to the sector if this law is adopted. The third important thing is the Ordinance on water rescue activities. It was adopted by the Council of Ministers on April 7 this year It contains many requirements for which the sector is not yet ready. We are not talking about whether they are adequate. The request of the sector is, if possible, to delay the implementation of this regulation until the end of the year this will create a legal case, because this ordinance has been adopted, and the previous one no longer has effect,” said the minister. He added that he will discuss the topic with the Acting Minister of Health, Dr. Galya Kondeva. Miloshev also said that he expects remuneration in the tourism sector in the country to be increased by about 20 percent, at all levels in the sector.

“Tourism is struggling for workers from third countries because there are not enough people here who want to work in this sector. The good news is that for another year there will be an increase in wages. Seasonal work is something that is important for the sector.” added the line minister. In Sunny Beach, he added that an increase in the number of tourists is expected this year. “We expect a growth of about 15 percent in tourism in Bulgaria. Armenia, Kosovo and Uzbekistan are the new markets we expect to see on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. We expect a growth in the UK market of about 15 – 20 percent. Because of the war in the Middle East, it was expected, that Israeli tourists will not come to Bulgaria, but in the end we already have reservations, so we expect tourists from Israel as well,” added Miloshev, quoted by BTA.

Today, he held working meetings with representatives of municipalities from the Southern Black Sea coast, where the readiness of local authorities, institutions and businesses for the upcoming summer tourist season was discussed. Tonight, Minister Evtim Miloshev will take part in an award ceremony for the winners of the National Professions Competition 2024, the symbolic host of which is the Vocational High School of Tourism “Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov” – Varna. On April 26 and 27, Miloshev will be in the cities of Veliko Tarnovo and Targovishte, and the focus of his meetings there will be on the development of the regions and cultural and historical tourism.
