Poet Saadat presents Jahangir’s new poems:
***
We also fell into the time when the pencil broke on the table, we fell into the time when the weapons came upon us…
We didn’t start, did we play, did we fight, did we fight, did we fall into the time when sons died at an early age…
The one who eats our rights gave the decree about us, we fell into the interest period of the debts on our shoulders…
spring has passed since separation, autumn has passed, winter has come, we have fallen into this sad time of sad seasons…
***
Tell me if the mountains are snowing in the wind blowing from afar, the roads are cold, or if there is anyone coming or going.
Tell me, will the good news open the cold doors, will the letters reach me if I write and give them to the wind?
Again the clocks are running, time is short again, tell me, the paths are different thoughts, the heart forgets, tell me.
***
It was from the gloomy cloud, this sadness from the air, these drizzly windows from silent cries…
this sadness is from heartache, this death is from fights, this cry is from nests where hope is lost…
this sigh from the knee hugs inside four walls, this grief from the comas of a lonely old man…
***
Your eyes are like potted flowers on the window, who knows where the sun is shining in the hemisphere?
The trail of time is black and white in his mind, the birds have been blown away by a wind…
Who knows what your cold thoughts will draw, how your eyes will draw the picture of snow at night…
the fear of timeless departures – you shake the soul, a train passes over the cliff, how do you hold your breath…
how 100 years ago, a spring in his tableau looked at the sunset with his eyes full of sadness…
like potted flowers, where is the sun, where are you? It snows, you are cold in a false spring…
