Sisters Gabriela and Stephanie Stoevi shared their expectations for their participation in the Paris Games. Our female badminton players will participate in the 3rd Olympics in a row.

“We are happy to qualify for the Olympics again. Our goal is to get out of the groups again, because at the last Olympics we were two points away from getting out, but we didn’t make it and it still hurts. We know our opponents, we have played with them and we have were winning. We hope for a good performance and exit from the groups,” said Gabriela.

“At the first Olympic Games, we were too young, our euphoria was a bit more. At the Tokyo Games, our motivation dropped a bit, as we were in a very tough group. Then we realized that we had a chance, but we almost didn’t make it. Maybe this Olympics we are more relaxed, more motivated – now we will just have fun. These games will be different, we want to have fun and show what we can do. The years in big badminton have taught us patience that this experience we have and can fight with the best,” she added.

“In recent years, we have been able to see that Asian women are not so scary, that they are also people, that they are not robots, and we can beat them,” Stephanie said.
