The General Council of the Kel Ansar Tribe of Mali, the Honorable Abdoul Magid Ag Mohamed Ahmed Al ANSARI alias Nasser, shared his views on the country’s news with media men. It was thanks to a meeting of collective fasting at his home last Saturday.

Hon. Abdoul Magid Ag Mohamed Ahmed Al ANSARI alias Nasser first explained that the Kel Ansar Tribe was a very large community that encompassed many fractions and villages. According to him, his tribe works for peace and has given itself the mission of building peace within the country.
“We have no problem with anyone, we only work for the Republic. The Kel Ansar tribe is part of the reforms undertaken by the State, especially the new constitution. We are the first to support this new constitution. We support the transition and we have no agenda except that of Mali. We have no relationship with any group whose agenda is to divide the country or wreak havoc within the country. Our only agenda is to bring peace to the country. We started this mission in 2015 by traveling all over Mali to send messages of peace, living together, reconciliation between all communities in Mali. We have also criss-crossed the diaspora to convey messages of peace, because we only have this country which has given us everything,” Nasser said.
He justified his support for the authorities by recalling the word of the Almighty who says: obey your leaders!
“It is God who made Assimi the President of the Republic and we are obliged to obey him. Even if we don’t want him, I as a Muslim have to support him. I did it for IBK, ATT and Alpha and my father did it for Modibo KEITA,” said Amenokal from the Kel Ansar Tribe of Mali.
Concerning the holding of elections loudly demanded by some, the General Council of the Kel Ansar Tribe made it clear that the State was in the process of making reforms. He underlined that 6 bills were adopted by the legislative body of the transition, namely the electoral law, the law on communities, the law on division…
Also, he informed that the making of biometric cards was in progress and which will serve as voter cards.
“These reforms will take time. So we have to give time to the transition to set up all the structures to organize the elections. The AIGE is not yet structured at regional and municipal level. Time must be given to the transition to organize credible elections so as not to fall into the errors of the old regime. The international community wants the elections to be held quickly, but we must first meet all the conditions”, explained Nanser, while specifying that as a community leader he refers to the authorities and supports what they decide.
Regarding the tense relations between Mali and France, the general council of the Kel Ansar tribe has clearly indicated that it follows the policy of its country.
Regarding the current insecurity situation in Ménaka, he stressed that it was beyond the competence of a community leader.
“It is a conflict between two terrorist groups. Civilians cannot mediate between two terrorist groups. If it was a conflict between two communities, we were going to take our pilgrim’s staff to reconcile them”, explained Abdoul Magid Ag Mohamed Ahmed Al ANSARI.
According to him, the least he can do in this situation is to support the FAMA responsible for securing the populations.
