Watan Al-Youm: Using simple means and equipment, ambulance crews and volunteer teams are racing against time to retrieve the bodies of thousands of martyrs from under the rubble in Gaza, which has been subjected to Israeli aggression since last October 7.
The days of the truce allowed access to dozens of decomposed bodies, which, according to the Euro-Mediterranean Center for Human Rights, the Israeli occupation deliberately prevented from recovering them, as a reason for the residents of Gaza to migrate towards the southern Gaza Strip.
The question remains: How can we reach these martyrs quickly, using simple means and equipment, before the days of the truce expire and Israel once again pours its deadly ammunition on the devastated Strip?
The days of the temporary truce, which lasts for 4 days, revealed the horror of the disaster in Gaza, where the devastation that befell stones and people is only matched by the destruction of the American atomic bombs on Nagasaki and Hiroshima, as many of those deadly bombs and munitions that destroyed the Strip were American.
Ambulance crews and volunteer teams are racing against time to recover the largest number of martyrs’ bodies from under the rubble, amid appeals from inside Gaza to Arab countries to introduce heavy equipment to help retrieve the bodies of the martyrs.
International organizations and health authorities in Gaza warn of a health catastrophe, as the accumulation of rotting corpses is more likely to spread epidemics and diseases than those that have been charred.
Before the truce, the continuous Israeli bombing prevented access to the rubble to recover the victims and pull the bodies from under the rubble, while many people lost their breath before ambulance crews could reach them in time.
On Sunday, the Gaza Civil Defense renewed its distress call to receive aid by removing bodies from under the rubble in the Strip.
The Civil Defense added that it needs a lot of equipment to remove the rubble and search for missing persons, in light of the temporary truce in the Strip.
The Civil Defense Department in Gaza sent a distress call to Arab countries, calling on them to provide the necessary equipment that would contribute to the operations of recovering the bodies of martyrs from under the rubble of homes in the Strip, which were targeted by the occupation forces.
The Civil Defense resumed work in the eastern Gaza Strip, on Saturday, to recover bodies from under the houses bombed by the occupation.
The Civil Defense Administration in the Gaza Strip confirmed that the truce period that entered into force on Friday, for a period of 4 days, is not sufficient to carry out extrication operations from under the rubble, pointing to the limited capabilities available.
