Ukraine needs additional arms supplies to be able to defend itself against Russia. This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to the Contact Group for Ukraine at the US Air Force Base in Ramstein.
“We suffer from a shortage of missiles and need long-range capabilities, including the use of missiles on Russian territory.” This was stated by Ukrainian President Zelensky after his surprise arrival in Germany today.
He participated in the meeting of the contact group for Ukraine at the Ramstein base, where 50 members of this group are discussing aid to Kiev.
Zelensky criticized the fact that a significant part of the promised air defense systems has not yet been delivered to the Ukrainian armed forces. He also called for more F-16 fighter jets.
US President Joe Biden will approve additional aid to Ukraine in the amount of 250 million dollars, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin announced at the beginning of the meeting. Funds must be made available quickly.
The surprise Ukrainian offensive in Russia’s Kursk region has not yet caused President Putin to divert his attention from further advances in eastern Ukraine, Austin said.
German Defense Minister Borsi Pistorius announced that Berlin will deliver 12 more advanced self-propelled howitzers.
“I personally and repeatedly saw how motivated and how quickly the Ukrainian military learns to handle the weapons we provide them, especially the Patriot and IRIS-T missile systems. We witnessed this once again before our visit with Chancellor Olaf Scholz at the training base in Todendorf on Wednesday”.
The minister added that a total of 10,000 Ukrainian military personnel will be trained this year, writes BNR.
