Bulgaria boasts over 50 years of experience in operating nuclear facilities, adhering to the highest safety standards. To foster the industry’s ⁢strategic role in‍ the economy, it is crucial to provide training opportunities for more ‍Bulgarian specialists and experts, alongside categorical ‌safety guarantees.

President Radev emphasized that‍ nuclear ⁣energy offers autonomy, security, and‍ affordability ​as a reliable energy ‍source, particularly‍ in the face of growing global energy⁢ consumption. The conversation also explored cooperation between Bulgaria and the US in nuclear energy, including ⁢the construction‌ of the 7th and 8th ⁣units⁤ of ⁢the Kozloduy NPP and the ​implementation⁣ of the‍ AP-1000 technology. Opportunities for Bulgarian specialists⁢ to participate in the management and‍ maintenance of these facilities were​ also discussed.

David Wright expressed​ the‍ readiness of the ⁤US Nuclear Regulatory Commission to share its expertise and support ‌Bulgaria ‍in ensuring energy security‍ and stability,⁢ not only for the country but also⁢ the region.
