From UTE we reject the outsourcing of English teaching in the city’s public schools that the government of Horacio Rodríguez Larreta is implementing, through the hiring of international organizations to give virtual language classes in a new program called “Ingles en línea ”.
The direct contracting that is carried out is to «Pearson Education», one of the companies that is part of the map of commodification and privatization of education.
Faced with the lack of teachers as a result of the systematic persecution and permanent harassment, added to the work overload that structures the educational policy of the city, today the groups of students are faced with a supposed virtual language teacher and a grade teacher. of caretaker.
Instead of complying with the obligation to guarantee teachers to fill vacant positions, the government hires an organization from abroad to do so, thus evading all its responsibility to guarantee qualified and suitable teachers for that purpose. In turn, the contracted teachers are outside of any regulatory framework of the system, advancing in the precariousness of the pedagogical task.
This educational policy ratifies, once again, the attempt to advance in the privatization and commercialization of the educational system, with outsourced and precarious teachers.
The Ministry has the power and must call for a suitability exam to fill vacant positions and must offer greater access quotas to teachers who have a degree in English.
We demand public policies for the promotion and strengthening of teacher training, an increase in the educational budget and an end to the harassment of teachers so that being a teacher in the city of Buenos Aires is again an option for those who want to be one.
