A floor-standing, cordless and robotic vacuum cleaner is already available, but what about an anti-allergenic vacuum cleaner? It turns out that there are quite a few products for this field. One of them came to Israel recently. This is Jimmy’s BX7 Pro, known in the field of cordless vacuum cleaners. In fact, this is already the company’s fourth model in this market segment, but the first it sells in Israel, and it promises not only to vacuum the mattress or sofa, but also to eliminate dust mites and other hidden things below the surface.
Not the standard vacuum cleaner
The Jimmy BX7 Pro has a slightly odd design. It does not resemble the familiar standard cordless vacuum cleaner. It looks much more compact and compact. The suction unit, the brush and the collection tank are combined in one body with a handle at the end, while the user simply has to move the vacuum cleaner onto the area he wants to pump.
The BX7 Pro is also not a cordless vacuum cleaner. Attached to it is a fixed electrical wire, which is not as terrible as it sounds, if it sounds, as it is not intended for mobility around the house but for working in very cozy rooms – the bedroom, living room, kitchen or in short where it is necessary to vacuum sofas, mattresses, rugs, blankets and bedding a bed. The cable itself is long enough – 5 meters – and flexible, so it does not interfere, would only be nice if it had a quick pull-out mechanism rather than a plug socket.
The war on dust mites
The BX7 Pro does a slightly different job than regular vacuum cleaners. Yes it sucks, but it incorporates a number of other elements designed to help allergens and those sensitive to dust mites, dandruff, animal hair and bacteria in general that cling to areas that are not usually treated in depth.
In each operation, the vacuum cleaner activates an ultraviolet (UV) bulb with a power of 550 milliwatts to destroy dust mites and bacteria with an efficiency of 99.99%. In addition, it also has a built-in heating element that heats up in 5 seconds to 60 degrees, thus simulating the effect of the sun’s rays to maintain even deeper and more lasting hygiene. Finally it is also equipped with an ultrasonic speaker designed to destroy bacterial reproduction and growth wherever they are.
All of these operations are performed in parallel when the bulb and the heating element are deployed to the entire width of the vacuum cleaner and operate immediately upon operation. Although it can not really test its effectiveness for allergens, the company did so already when it received approval from the British Medical Foundation Allergy UK.
Going out for pumping
The BX7 Pro has a 700-watt motor that provides a suction power of 16Kpa, a dual cyclonic pumping system that separates the vacuumed dust from the air coming out. At the end it has a wide thumping brush that combines hair strips and rubber strips, which is also able to handle animal hair.
The collection tank has a volume of 500 cc and inside also a HEPA air filter with another attached to the kit. In fact, it is a system similar to the one found in other Jimmy vacuum cleaners.
Its operation is quite simple: pressing the single power button immediately activates the vacuum cleaner and hence all you have to do is start pumping. The additional button is a mode button that allows you to set the working mode – pumping without the ultraviolet light, pumping without activating the brush – effective for use on clothes – or all three together.
What’s really nice is that the vacuum cleaner also has a dust sensor, one that is able to detect a local load of dust on the sofa or mattress. This is indicated by a series of blue LEDs that change color to red so you know if another round is required on the surface for extra safety.
The bottom line
Jimmy BX7 Pro is a vacuum cleaner designed to work in very defined areas: sofas, mattresses and rugs. In terms of pumping results it provided a capability similar to that of a cordless vacuum cleaner with a small brush at its tip. That is, it does not vacuum better, but in comparison it is more convenient and efficient at working especially on large surfaces.
To this is added the ability to eliminate dust mites, bacteria and other bacteria that hide deep within the areas we are more exposed to and close to and this is probably the main difference – since those who are not sensitive will probably need such a product but those who will appreciate it much more.
